There’s a whole “crop” of things to celebrate now that autumn is around the corner--not the least of which is Halloween and not the most of which is Oktoberfest. Or vice versa, etc. etc.
If I dress in Lederhosen at the clam bake, perhaps someone will throw me a bratwurst and I can get Oktoberfest out of the way a bit early or a bit late (depending on the date). I have a set of leather shorts complete with decorated suspenders just waiting for an invite (so feel free to send me an invite for your party), but if worse comes to worst, I plan to attend the Oktoberfest here in Cleveland for beer, brats (and Beethoven--if I feel the need for a culture fix). In fact, if you’re planning your own Oktoberfest, you may not want to leave out the Masskrugstemmen Championship.
To participate in the Masskrugstemmen, you must be able to hold “The Masskrug,” a filled 1 liter stein, with one arm (left or right), stretched out in front of the body (not sideways!), and completely parallel to the floor. If the arm holding the Masskrug is not absolutely parallel to the floor, the contestant gets a warning – after two warnings the contestant is disqualified. The person with the longest time recorded for holding the stein wins! Wins what? That’s up to you, but a free beer is cheap and easy.
But wait, there’s still Halloween to contend with. My feeling is you dress as a scarecrow wearing Lederhosen. Add a lobster in one hand and a beer in another, and you’ve covered the fall harvest from start to finish.
Odd? Yes. But certainly creative. And that’s why you love Party411.com
Happy Harvest!
