I just started my at home business on October 8th. So far, it is very slow. I am trying to come up with ideas to get it moving. The company is very supportive and I do not have any complaints.
I am 65 years of age. Married 46 years and we have 4 adult children 5 grandchildren and 1 grandchild expected very soon.
I enjoy reading mystery novels and starting to read the classics again.
My favorite TV channels at PBS, History, Military, History International, Discovery and Travel.
I am enrolled in two courses of study. One is my favorite, Archeology and Ancient History. The other is Office Administrator to help me in my part-time office positions that I have via an employment temp agency.
I love a rainy day with the sounds of it hitting the roof while reading a good book. Watching the flow of a brook.
I enjoy attending my grandchildrens events, helping them with homework, watching their favorite programs and movies with them.
I love watching the snow fall; the birds, rabbits, squirrels and deer in the yard. It is wonderful watching the apples slowly appear and grow on the trees in the back yard.
My favorite times of the year are the fall with the changing of the leaves. The smell of the Thanksgiving meal cooking. The beautiful decorations and artistry in the yards of homes at Christmas.

Hi Sherri, I love your website! Do you specifically have any Bunco party ideas? prizes, etc... My turn is in 30 days! Thanks
Posted by: Elise Martin | December 07, 2007 at 09:11 AM
Hi Elise!
Bunco is a wonderful way to get together with friends and have a good time.
How about having a casino themed Bunco party? For prizes you can have bottles of wine, drink charms, playing cards, Casino on DVD, or a set of martini glasses.
For the menu do a buffet of finger foods - chicken fingers, spinach & feta filo pastry triangles, spring rolls served with sweet/sour sauce, shrimp cocktail, cocktail club sandwiches, spinach crepes filled with cream cheese and hot-smoked salmon, antipasto including all the favorites like tapenade and pâté, and assorted canapés. Serve champagne and cocktails.
And check out the Casino theme parties at party411.com for decorating ideas!

Hi Sherri,
I have been planning parties and weddings for about 25 years. Mainly just for family and friends. I have been told many times that I should go into business. Since my husband works for a catering company, we now have the opportunity to start an event planning business with sub contracting the catering co. We have just begun the paperwork... I am a nurse in a major hospital in Chicago. I'm kissing my 55th birthday smack in the face in April. Married for 36 yrs with 3 adult daughters and 4.7 grandkids. (4 grand boys and a new baby girl due in April) We intend to do some unique things with our company.. Our youngest daughter is a dancer/choreographer so we will be able to offer Hip/hop & jazz class for kids b'day parties.
we also will have a register of professional dancers for all types of performance venues. we are excited and are hungry to learn all we can about event planning and production. I am very active in my church with a women's minstry and teach a small flag line in the inner-city. I already enjoy your site. keep up the great work.

I am a party planner & wedding planner and I hope to get some ideas that I can use here in Idaho for parties & weddings. I am working on a gangster style wedding now so and ideas?
Posted by: sharon | July 20, 2008 at 09:01 AM
Hi Sharon!
Wow, a gangster style wedding, what a fantastic theme! You should go with a Roaring 20's Speakeasy atmosphere. Hand out boas and fedoras to the guests, and have a cigar bar! Try to include pearls in the centerpieces and decorations, they were all the rage that decade. You can check out our 1920's party for more ideas - http://party411.com/theme-roaring20s.html
Have fun!

Im a mother of 4 and have about 6 nieces and nephews that I love to hang out with and try to make parties for them for every occassion possible. I love to be around kids and make them feel special. My oldest daughter would like a masquerade party for her birthday, Any ideas??
Posted by: Jessica | August 01, 2008 at 08:54 AM
It's my first time opening your site. I am glad to find someone who can guide me. My interests are decorating tables and anything els in that direction. I live in South Africa Pretoria.
Posted by: Ursula Agra | August 05, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Hello Jessica,
You must throw plenty of kids parties, how fun!
For a masquerade you should include inexpensive masks in your invitations. Decorate with opulence, think feathers and fake pearls.
Serve finger foods fit for kids, tiny grilled cheese, little hot dogs, or mini hamburgers, and circulate them on silver trays.
We have a Mardi Gras Masquerade Birthday party that has even more ideas -

Hope that helps!

Hello Ursula!
It is always nice to meet first timers - and from South Africa, WOW!
My favorite part of decorating is the tables as well, there is just so much you can do! I always try to spice it up with something different. We recently threw a pirate theme party where we used pirate hooks as napkin rings. Fantastic!
Thanks for visiting Ursula!

i don't have no idea how to make my sweet 16 party
Posted by: Thais | August 10, 2008 at 02:50 PM
I am a 43 year old mother of 2 and brand new grandmother of 1. My granddaughter was born in April, but we are already planning her party and are looking for fun circus, big top themes. I am also returning to school and am pretty tied up and am really looking forward to doing most of the planning via internet. This is my first time to do this I guess we must change with the times if we want to keep up.

Hello Thais and Martha, and welcome to Party Talk!
Thais - we have a huge sweet 16 section on Party411.com, check it our for great ideas! http://www.party411.com/sweet16.html
I personally think a luau or Hollywood Sweet 16 theme is a great way to go. Once you decide your theme, you can model your invitations and decorations around it!
Martha - We have a fun circus theme on Party411.com as well, http://www.party411.com/theme97.html; I personally recommend lots of balloons and crepe paper for decorations, and of you can swing it, a petting zoo or pony rides are fantastic activities. If not, order a few inflatable animals - http://www.thejunglestore.com/Gift-Catalog/Inflatables - and have a few adults dress as clowns!
