My sister Kathleen's 30th birthday fell on Memorial Day weekend, so we thought we'd get the extended family together and use some of our best Backyard Barbeque Party Ideas! We rented a pavilion at a public park (one with an extra large built-in grill!), and we made a slew of hamburgers, hotdogs, and buttered corn. Yum! Check out some of the details of the party below, and make sure to take a look at our line of Backyard Barbeque Party Invitations and Favors so you can personalize your event.
We created a rustic feel for the party, which worked wonderfully with our venue, a stone pavilion. We paired diy log candle centerpieces with gingham tablecloths and burlap covered potted flowers. To tie the rustic theme together, we created a three-tiered log cupcake stand (see top), which was the highlight of the dessert table.
We added pops of color to the venue with potted flowers wrapped in burlap, which we placed on the buffet, dessert, and picnic tables. The flowers served double-duty as a gift for the birthday girl. An avid gardener, she took home the flowers to plant in her yard.
We also included mason jars throughout the venue, from the glasses we used for drinks to the paper goods, such as invitations and table tents. Guests even took home mason jar glasses as favors, too!
We even decorated the condiments! Bottles of ketchup, mustard, and mayo each got a sticky label that matched the event's other mason jar theme decorations.
The menu included many classic barbecue favorites, like fresh cut watermelon, grilled corn smothered in butter, and homemade pasta and potato salads. Don't forget the mountain of hotdogs and hamburgers, too!
A final surprise for our guests was the s'more station! Instead of roasting marshmallows over a firepit, the kids cooked over sterno candles that were placed in a flower box and surrounded by gravel. The flower box was later gifted to the birthday girl.
Another present for the guest of honor matched the rustic theme of the event! A bench made from sealed sheets of oak was a gift from her husband.
The Party Girl made sure to attend the backyard barbecue as well. Here she is with the birthday girl! Good luck planning your summer event this year, and make sure to save some lemonade for everyone here at Party411.com!
