For my sister Kathleen’s Peter Rabbit baby shower, I decided to create a garden theme sign in table and favors with touches of Beatrix Potter. It was important that the sign in table clearly communicate the theme to the guests while also giving them the opportunity to leave a note for the mom-to-be. Check out my table below, and don’t forget to take a look at our Baby Shower Invitations and Favors to give your party a personal touch!
I don't like sign in books that are eventually tossed aside or thrown away (like so many are). To make sure Kathleen used her sign in book again and again, I purchased a compilation of Beatrix Potter's poems and had guests sign the front inside cover of the book. This way, Kathleen can add the book to her children's library and her little girl can look at all the sweet messages left by family and friends. I also left a framed note, reminding guests to sign the book once they arrived.
I also added a bookplate to the inside front cover with the baby's name. A children's book is a cute alternative to a traditional sign in book and is sure to be used again and again.
Don't forget some garden decor! We put a vase of blooming daffodils and two vintage Beatrix Potter glass figurines on the table (along with a sheer table runner) to tie in the theme.
While we didn't have many traditional baby games at this get-together, we put a clothespin game out on the sign-in table. We made sure to pin the directions to each one.
As favors, I planted succulents in mini terracotta pots (make sure to use well-draining, sandy soil for this type of plant). I added decorative stone on top, and pinned a nametag to each one. This sweet favor tied in to well with the garden theme, and the plants looked beautiful lined up on the table!
