After planning a Peter Rabbit garden theme baby shower over the course of six months for my sister Kathleen, the day finally came when the decorations, food, gifts, games, and guests came together for one awesome event! Since my mother is an avid Beatrix Potter collector, we not only had an assortment of figurines and other items to use as décor, but we also used vegetables and fresh flowers in centerpieces and on the buffet to emphasize the theme. Make sure to check the detailed pictures of the shower decorations below (along with my posts on the Sign In Table and Favors as well as the Dessert Table), and take a look at our other Baby Shower Ideas for more in inspiration, too!
We set up six square tables with white linens throughout the venue and topped each one with a sheer, gold-striped table runner. Centerpieces were a vegetable mix of carrots (with their tops), kale, kolrabi, and a branch of purple flowers. The centerpieces were cheap, easy-to-make, and popped with color. They were a great alternative to an all flower centerpiece and fit the Peter Rabbit garden theme perfectly!
We set up a kids' table next to a roaring fireplace where our youngest guests could do some coloring. We decked it out with a sign and centerpiece to match the rest of the party decor.
An assortment of Beatrix Potter glass figurines were scattered throughout the venue to subtley tie in the theme. They added a personal touch to the event; many of the items were mementos from the mom-to-be's childhood.
The Peter Rabbit theme could even be found in the coffee station, where guests could fill up on creamer and sugar!
The highlight of the gift table was a wood garden trellis adorned with a Beatrix Potter print along the top. With a large group of guests, the trellis was a great way to display gifts that could be seen from afar.
The buffet was decorated with large vases filled with bright carrots and radishes. They not only added big pops of color, but the vegetable decor connected well to the garden theme.
Even the buffet menu reflected the garden theme! Tossed salad, fruit salad, veggie pizza, and pasta salad were some of the most popular dishes.
We added a personal touch to the shower by wrapping water bottles with custom Peter Rabbit labels. Check out some of our other Baby Shower Invitations and Party Favors for more custom options. We also served lemonade and iced from large glass jars, which is always a hit at family parties.
Kathleen, the mom-to-be, loved the party and her gifts! Her she is with a cute strawberry hat for her new little girl - a sweet gift for a garden theme event.
