Materials (makes about 24 place cards)
- 1 batch Mrs. Fields Sugar Cookie dough (courtesy of allrecipes.com)
- Rolling pin
- Extra flour
- 1 large heart cookie cutter
- 1 small circle cookie cutter
- 1 can white frosting
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 6-7 tbsp water
- Red food coloring
- White nonpareil sprinkles
- Cooling rack
Directions
- Make one batch of Mrs. Fields Sugar Cookie dough according to the directions (click on link for recipe), and preheat the oven to 325°F.
- After cooling the dough for several hours, spread flour on your rolling surface and roll the dough to ¼” thickness.
- For each place card, cut a heart and a circle from the dough. Then, cut the circle cookie in half, and cut a notch in the heart cookie the same width and height as the half circle. This will allow you to stand the heart cookie up using the half circle.
- After filling an ungreased tray with cookies, cook for 13-15 minutes. Immediately remove the cookies to a cooling rack afterwards.
- While the cookies are cooling, make the icing. Mix the powdered sugar and the water, adding red food coloring until you reach your desired color. Once the cookies are cool, use a large spoon to spread the icing thoroughly over them. Add sprinkles and allow the icing to harden for 1-2 hours.
- Next, fill a plastic bag with white frosting. Cut the corner and pipe each guest’s name onto the cookies. Stand each heart up on a half circle, and place at each setting.
