One of my family’s favorite holidays is Halloween. It’s a rare day where we get to dress however we like, take candy from strangers, and scare the bejeezus out of each other! Unfortunately, some of the fun is taken out of Halloween as we become “too old to go trick-or-treating” (bah!). However, if you’re having family and friends over like I am, then there’s one sure way to make the adults feel like they’re a part of the action. Serve booze! And theme it!
These Halloween Candy Corn Jello Desserts include vodka which will add some spice into your Halloween bash. Plus, you can make a non-alcoholic version of this dessert for the kiddos. After trying this recipe, make sure to check out some of our other Halloween Party Ideas, too.
Ingredients (makes nine cups)
- 1 package (3 ounces) yellow Jello
- 1 package (ounces) orange Jello
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup vodka
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 container Cool Whip
- Candy corn
- Clear plastic cups
- Cookie sheet
Directions
- On a large cookie sheet, arrange the plastic cups. Make sure they are not touching, so the Jello forms evenly.
- Make the yellow Jello for the bottom layer of the candy corn shot by first boiling one cup of water. Remove from heat and add the water to the Jello mix in a separate bowl. Mix until the Jello is dissolved.
- After the Jello dissolves, add one cup of vodka. Then, fill each cup about 1/3 of the way full.
- Put the cups in the fridge to chill until the Jello sets (but is not completely firm). This takes about 1 ½ - 2 hours.
- Make the orange Jello, but instead of using 1 cup vodka, use 1 cup cold water. I decided to only make the yellow layer alcoholic, so my guests wouldn’t be tripping over themselves if they had two!
- Fill the cups up to 2/3 of the way with orange Jello, and then put the cups back into the fridge and allow them to set for another 4 hours.
- After the Jello is firm, add a large dollop of Cool Whip, and sprinkle four or five pieces of candy corn on each.
- Make sure to serve with a spoon and a smile! Enjoy, they go fast!
Non-Alcoholic Version: If you want to make this dessert for the kiddos, just follow the directions provided on the box, omitting the vodka. My sister asked me to make these for her open house on Halloween night where all the kids in the family gather to trick-or-treat. Fun!
awesome!!!
