Well, it has definitely been a long time since my last post, but I needed to share everything about my son’s 5th birthday party. I decided to do a sports theme for my little athlete. His invitation was a football photo of Jack superimposed on a Wheaties box. I can’t tell you how many compliments I received.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do a strictly Ohio State party or keep it an all star- all sport party. The event itself was held at Force Indoor Sports. They do a great job in keeping the kids active and on the field for an hour before they head upstairs for the party.
I ordered hats and cups to decorate the table. I had Brutus as the centerpiece on the table with a bouquet of balloons. This definitely added to the otherwise plain room.
The favor bags were jersey backpacks. I cut out each childs name for the back of the backpack and filled them with lots of goodies including pom poms for the girls and baseball bats filled with gumballs, sports pencils and paper, popcorn balls and maracas.
Right near the favor bags, I had a cut out of my son as a referee with a speech bubble telling the guests to take their goodie bags. The kids really loved seeing this and it is now décor in my son’s room.
The other favor that I had was a mini candy buffet. I don’t think that this has been at any of the birthdays yet, so the kids didn’t really know what to do with themselves. Needless to say, I bought way too much and now I have a candy buffet in my dining room.
Last part of the party is the cake… Now I usually go for this fancy schmancy tiered cake, but my son has developed an allergy to tree nuts and I couldn’t go where I normally do for the cake. I still wanted something a little different from the regular sheet cake. I went to Heinens, a grocery store, where they have an exceptional baker. I asked her to make me a sample of a cookie and a cupcake. I thought that the cookie was so cute. She made 3 different designs and the kids were happy to actually not have cake. Overall, another birthday success story. Now I need to figure out how to “out do” myself next year.

So great! It cost a lot of budget to sponsor this kind of themed party. Anyways, great job!

I ordered backpacks for the goody bags that were a "jersey" theme and then I used my Cricut to cut out vinyl for each of the kids with their names on it...
