I love Halloween candy as much as the next Halloween obsessed party planner. I can't get enough candy corn this time of year. My kids love it as much as I do and would happily eat it every day and night. Well, I can't give them candy all the time (even though I'd like to eat it all the time). So, the kids and I decided to work on some healthy and fun Halloween treats.
We started with dried fruit eyeballs. We started with dried apple rings, placed a dried apricot on top and topped it with a raisin. They were easy enough for my 2 year old to make and certainly had an eyeball look to them.
Next, we made a veggie candy corn platter. We started with cut up yellow pepper, then added carrots and cauliflower. It turned out pretty cute! I would make it much larger if it was being used for a party, but our small candy corn veggie platter was the perfect size for a small gathering, or in our case, an afternoon snack.
Something truly amazing and unexpected happened after we made our healthy Halloween treats. My children ate them. The dried fruit was expected, but they even ate the veggies. They even ate cauliflower! I'm still a bit in shock, but thrilled.
These healthy treats are going to become a Halloween staple in our home.
soo cute.
love all the crazy and simple halloween ideas.
