The 4th of July weekend is almost here, and many people are having parties to celebrate. We are having an engagement party for my sister on Sunday, and we are doing a red, white and blue theme. I thought would share the drink recipes we are using along with a few of our favorite party cocktails and punches. All of these drinks will put a fun patriotic twist to your BBQ or picnic this Forth of July. Enjoy!
Let's start off with a fun non-alcoholic party punch that the kids (and many adults) just love! -
Easy Kid's Party Punch
Serves 15
2 Liters of 7 Up
1/2 Gallon of Fruit Punch
1 pt Fresh Blueberries
1 qt Berry Flavored Sherbet
Combine all ingredients except the sherbet in a large pitcher. Pour into glasses and top with sherbet right before serving.
This white sangria is a favorite at our family parties. We usually triple the recipe and serve it in a large punch bowl or glass jar with a ladle.
White Sangria
Serves 4-6
2 Large Juice Oranges, 1 cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices, 1 juiced
1 Large Lemon, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1/4 cup Sugar
2 Tbsp Triple Sec
1 Bottle Fruity White Wine, chilled (go with the cheap stuff, it will still taste great)
Tray of Ice Cubes
Add orange and lemon slices and sugar to large pitcher; mash gently with wooden spoon until sugar dissolves and fruit releases some juice but is not completely crushed, about 1 minute. Stir in orange juice, Triple Sec, and wine; refrigerate for at least 2 and up to 8 hours.
Before serving, add ice cubes and stir briskly to redistribute settled fruit and pulp; serve immediately.
If you are looking to serve individual cocktails, offer something fun and patriotic. Here are a few of our favorites
Or go with a few classics in red and blue hues that everyone will love -
Blue Hawaii
The 1957 authentic recipe. For a less formal twist, serve this in a canning jar.
3/4 oz Light Rum
3/4 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Blue Caracao
3 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Sweet & Sour Mix
Combine all ingredients and mix well. If using ice, mix the ingredients in a blender. Serve in a tall glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and a cherry.
Hurricane
You can't go wrong with this tasty New Orleans classic on a hot summer day!
Ingredients:
2 oz Light Rum
2 oz Dark Rum
2 oz Passion Fruit Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
Juice of a Half a Lime
1 Tbsp Simple Syrup
1 Tbsp Grenadine
Orange Slice and Cherry for Garnish
Squeeze juice from half a lime into shaker over ice. Pour the remaining ingredients into the cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a hurricane glass. Garnish with a cherry and an orange slice.
With fun drinks like these your party is sure to be a hit. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
