Lately, I have been coming up with easy St. Patrick’s Day Party Ideas for our annual open house. Along with some homemade corned beef and pints of Guinness, we usually deck our home for a St. Pat’s Day House Party in green, green, and more green! We’ve decided to change it up a little this year by spattering rainbows among our more traditional decorations and menu. Along with some simple rainbow fruit skewers (pictured above), try a few other ways listed below to brighten up your venue!
Rainbow Streamers: Buy crepe paper streamers in a variety of colors and arrange them draped along the ceiling or hung in doorways, behind the buffet, and in large windows. Depending on the space you have to cover, cut 5-10 strips of paper of each color in the same length. Wherever you decide to hang your rainbow masterpiece, expect it to draw the eye because of the bright colors.
Skittle Favors: Separate the colors of a one pound bag of Skittles and put them small cellophane bags in equal layers (so it looks like a rainbow). Add a tag at the top saying something like, “I’m lucky to have you! Thanks for coming!” Guests will love this tasty treat that matches your theme!
Rainbow Flower Centerpieces: Fill six mason jars with equal amounts of water and add different food coloring each one to make a rainbow of colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). Then, fill each vase with white flowers (carnations, daisies, or baby’s breath are all cheap options). Line them in order on a mantle or along a rectangular table for a dramatic (and colorful!) centerpiece.
Over the Rainbow Cupcakes: Ice cupcakes in white frosting (as if they are clouds) and add a strip of rainbow taffy or sour candy for a themed and tasty treat.
Rainbow Table Skirt: Fold a piece of tissue paper of each color of the rainbow in half (like a right triangle). Tape the long edge of each triangle around the table to make a banner.
Rainbow Balloon Wall: Blow up balloons in each color of the rainbow along with some white ones. Tape groups of balloons to the wall in the shape of a rainbow using packing tape. Don’t forget to add a fluffy white cloud at each end using the white balloons!
Rainbow Lollipop and Gumball Centerpieces: Fill clear glass vases with brightly colored gumballs, and lodge rainbow lollipops in the gumballs so they look like flowers. Use these colorful centerpieces as favors, too!
Rainbow Layered Jello: In clear party cups, create six layers of Jello to create a colorful rainbow treat. Add a dollop of Cool Whip on top as a fluffy cloud. Follow my easy Halloween Candy Corn Jello Cups tutorial to learn how to layer different Jellos.
Here’s everyone at Party411.com wishing you a very colorful St. Patrick’s Day!
