WWE Wrestlemania 26 Party Tips

 

Wrestlemania 26 is this Sunday at 7.  I have to be honest and say I am really excited about this extravaganza.  I watched it last year with my friends and it was good quality fun.  (And, yes, I still live at home with my parents.  I’m ok with it.)  I thought I would share some tips to make your Wrestlemania party a success.

Venue: I’m pretty sure you'll want to watch this in the comforts of you home.  Sure it’s a Pay Per View but have your buds kick in a few bucks and it’s not a big deal.  A local establishment might be showing the event.  But then you have to deal with finding a seat and waiting for drinks.  It’s also louder and not as conducive to going wild.

Entertainment: I plan on telling my guests to arrive early.  I have the Bret Hart DVD and the Rock DVD which will be played.  I want to get everyone in the mood prior to the main event.  You don’t change the channel during Wrestlemania so let your guests know the score the moment they show up.  Luckily for me, Bret Hart is wrestling this year so we’ll be able to see old Bret versus young Bret.  And of course there is Wrestlemania, which will not disappoint.  The card is so loaded that this could go down as a legendary.

Food:  Keep in mind the entire party is predicated on sitting in front of the TV and cheering (loudly) for a fixed match, so you want your delicious finger food.  That being said this is the one area of the party you have a large say in, so have fun.  Give names to your food and take it up a notch.

• Five Knuckle Shuffle Dip - Just your basic delicious dip but it's a guaranteed knockout.
• The 619's - A classic display of quesadillas but with a subtle kick you're just not expecting.
• Santino's Specialty - Pizza and pasta.  Two classics and perfect if you're having guests come over early and want to give them some energy for the matches.
• The Big Shows - Nothing beats pigs in a blanket so give them a name that matches the hype.
  

This is just to get you started on your way to the championship, just remember to have fun with the naming of the food.  The more fun you have with it the more fun your guest will have.  So let's get ready to party!

 

Silver Anniversary Celebration

 

 

Twenty-five years ago, long before I ever thought of Party411.com, I married a blow-up doll who I named John DeVinyl because it was half past life and everyone owed me a gift.  Plus it was my birthday, and I’d rather do anything, I mean anything, than have a birthday party.

Well, it was a big birthday again this year so what better to do than to celebrate our silver anniversary?  I was pumped, John was especially pumped and the crowd was excited to watch us renew our vows ‘til puncture do we part. It’s been a fabulous 25 years with only a brief separation when John lived in my trunk as a retread. 

 

The DeVinyl Family (aptly named beach balls and other inflatables) as well as my friends and family gathered in the same party room where this all started.  Decorated with silver candelabras, silver “25s” and fabulous linens, the room was perfect for a recommitment ceremony. The wedding party from 1985 came down the aisle to With a Little Help from My Friends followed by the Party411 party girls wearing identical dresses, singing and dancing.  Last but not least, John and I walked down the aisle to “our” song—You Can’t Always Get What You Want. From then on, the audience shared in the festivities including giving a shout out to us joining in the well-known hymn, Shout, made popular by the Isley Brothers. 

 

After a short video to the tune Endless Love that showed us floating on air as we romped in the woods and relaxed at a picnic and in her hot tub—we stepped forward, and with the blessing of almost everyone there, we were pronounced doll (John) and living doll (me). 

Quite the night.  But you need a sense of humor.

St. Patrick's Day Office Party

 

Today is St. Patrick’s Day and we like to party, so to celebrate Party411 had a mini-feast in the showroom today.  And we had a blast, as we usually do.

When I say feast, I’m not even kidding.  We had a very delicious salad (claimed to be the best ever but the jury is still out on that.)  To be fair, it was a good salad.  We also had two types of dip, a fish and a chicken cheese dip.  Both were very well received, because who doesn’t love chips and dip? (The cheese dip was so well receieved that the recipe was being passed around.)

And for the main course, we had slow cooked beef and of course corned beef.  We had a variety of breads, mustard, and swiss cheese.  Talk about wonderful sandwiches.  I think I’m going to be full for the next three days. 

For the finisher, we also got to celebrate birthdays as well, which means birthday cake! Yes!  This cake was delicious and a perfect end to the party.

Road To The Red Carpet Gala

I finally got my chance to walk the red carpet before the Academy Awards!  Last night, Party411 was proud to help coordinate the Greater Cleveland Film Commission's Road To The Red Carpet event.  It was a fabulous Hollywood style red carpet gala.  The event was held at Pickwick and Frolic in Downtown Cleveland.

Guests arrived in black tie and headed down a red carpet that seemed to stretch down the entire block!  Before the Academy Awards began, guests enjoyed cocktails and an assortment of food stations and a fabulous silent auction.  (One guest won a bid for a walk on roll in Entourage!)  Guests could enjoy "photo magic" from our friends at Rock the House and have their picture taken on the red carpet or in front of a Hollywood style logo step and repeat board.  They could even act out a role in a movie and have it green screened into the original scene.

After cocktails, guests settled into their seats to watch The Oscars live from a giant screen set up in the Hilarities comedy club.  Guests who felt like wandering around watched the show from flat screen TVs set up around the entire event and enjoyed more drinks and plenty of desserts.

The Party Girl did a great job planning this event.  I always love working at events she has planned. She is really the most creative person I have ever met and I'm proud to be a part of her fabulous events!

Academy Awards® Nominees Scorecard

The Oscars® are on March 7th and I have to say I’m excited.  I go to the movies every Monday, so this is the few times in recent history that I will have actually seen most of the movies nominated. 

Because this year is different, I want to enjoy the Oscars a bit differently this year. I'm thinking of borrowing a few ideas from an Academy Awards® Party. We here at Party411 have also made an Academy Awards® scorecard.  I think this will be helpful because I usually forget who was nominated for what.  Also I want to fill one out before the event starts and see if I know more or less than the Academy. 

I also may or may not have to challenge my friends and family and see who does the best.  We always say we’re going to do this and then conveniently everyone picked the right winners.  This way I’ll have proof and we can have a fair challenge.
