ST. PATRICK’S DAY PUBSIDE CRAWL

The Best Excuse to Party

My favorite holiday is almost upon us.  Websites and bars count down.  Cities turn their rivers green.  There is a plethora of parades. And green beer, the preferred drink, becomes a color match for your face before the sun sets.

The other reason I love St. Patrick’s Day is that no one expects you to celebrate at home or spend a fortune on a party.  You just gather your friends at the top o’ the morn and hit O’Reilly’s, O’Hara’s, McKnarly’s, McFadden’s, Blarney Cove or Murphy’s Emerald Pub—or a facsimile in your neighborhood that by any other name smells as sweet!  By searching the Internet you can easily find out where to go on your Pubside Crawl and here’s some help!

First off, AOL’s City Guide has a St. Patrick’s Day list of Best Pubs by city; all you have to do is replace “Houston” in this link with your city name (http://cityguide.aol.com/houston/stpatricksday) and up pops a list of the 10 Best Pubs.  Secondly, most cities have cool Irish sites where they are listing each and every St. Patrick’s Day event, from Irish Coffee Contests to Fiddle Festivals and more, good and bad (e.g., http://www.irishphiladelphia.com)!

What’s left to do after you decide your day’s schedule?  Decorating you AND your friends!  Plus, my friends and I, mostly I, always bring along lots of stuff to decorate the people we meet (and that we like, that’s a prerequisite).  Inexpensive wearables include green leis and boas, beer sunglasses, shamrock vests or glittered shamrock glasses, a gargantuan amount of beads (they’re only like 28¢ apiece).  I’ve made so many friends that way.  In fact, my party has turned into more like my very own parade so many people plan on it!

So, as I bid Happy St. Patrick’s Day to ye lads and laddies…I’m singing "Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Lura,” wishing you a bit ‘o fun and a pot of gold while hoping that you will Sham-ROCK the house, wherever you go and make me proud.  In closing, I say…
“KISS ME, I’M IRISH!”

Have fun…The Party Girl
